The airfield has a two concrete runways. 16/34 measures 7900 x 164 feet (2408 x 50 m); 02/20 measures 7550 x 59 feet (2301 x 18 m).[1] It is sited on a small peninsula on the eastern coast of North Korea.
The airfield was used during the Korean War by the United States Navy. Marine squadron VMF(N)-513 flew night versions of the F4U Corsair until the UN retreat, when they relocated to Taegu Air Base.[2]
